Wer sich für Naturschutz interessiert, eine Betätigung an der frischen Luft fürs Wochenende sucht, gerne mal mit anpackt, und neue Leute treffen möchte, den interessieren vielleicht die conservation projects vom Fingal County Council, wo immer freiwillige Helfer gebraucht werden.

Tee, Kaffee und Kekse werden zwar vom Council spendiert, aber ein packed lunch sollte sich jeder selbst mitbringen.

Conservation Calendar January – February 2007

Saturday 13th January: Woodland management in St. Catherines Park, Lucan (10am-3.30pm)
Together with Fingal County Council’s Parks Division we will be creating glades within a spruce plantation to diversify this rather monotonous woodland. The meeting place is the Fire station in Leixlip. If you wish to participate or need transportation please ring Therese Casey on 890 5631 or 087 1305211

Woodland rejuvenation in the stunning Abbotstown Woodlands, Blanchardstown. (10am-3pm)
This will be a joint project with the Dublin 15 Environmental Group, local residents and Fingal County Council’s Parks Division to clear Cherry Laurel to allow the woodland to rejuvenate. If you wish to participate or need transportation please ring Therese Casey on 890 5631 or 087 1305211

We will be clearing trees that are slowly taking over the protected heathland on the top of Howth Head and enjoy some fantastic views of Dublin and the coast. Please wear sturdy footwear and warm clothes. We are meeting at the Howth Golf Club on the Carrickbrack Road in Howth.
