I was reading some of the comments on this Topic and wanted to leave my opinion. Yes I am a recruiter but like most of you I started in a callcentre. I came to Ireland 7 years ago and wasn't too happy with the salary. But what I realised is that you can quicker progress in your career in Ireland using your native tongue than back home. If you move jobs once every 12 months in Ireland and try to move up you can get a great salary. Certainly for German speakers as there is less competition for jobs as for instance French speakers. Furthermore it is great experience to have worked for a year or 2 in Ireland and then move home.

Sure starting on some of the entry level jobs in the contact centre industry (call centre is an old fashioned word) will not get you champagne and Caviar, but you can live from it and lead a normal lifestyle.

That sounds very interessting.

So far it is difficult looking for a job just over the phone/internet. I think it would be easier looking for a job and already living there.

I made contacts to some agencies and some companies, but of course I still have to wait for the results.

Mit der Wohnung müsste man mal sehen, ich selber bin 27 und bräuchte die wohl eher für unter der Woche, am Wochenende würde ich nach Co. Wicklow fahren mit meinem Freund.

Not completely true, some companies do want you to be in Ireland but these are mainly for more Senior jobs or Companies who are not in a rush to fill the vacancies. The majority of companies are happy to interview you by phone and/or skype. Wie kann man als Ungelernte in Irland Fuß fassen? Es muss natürlich alles geplant werden. Aber was für Möglichkeiten gibt es denn dort, wenn ich nach einem Jahr oder nach ein paar Monaten nicht mehr im Call Center arbeiten möchte, als Ungelernte, bis auf eben diesen Job?

Nun frage Dich doch einmal ernsthaft selber - wenn man nichts richtig kann, was soll man dann tun? Entweder in Hilfsjobs eben rumjobben oder Stütze. Oder etwas selbständig auf die Beine stellen. Aber letzteres fällt bei Dir wohl von vornherein flach.

Manchmal frage ich mich echt, was Du in einem Land willst, bei dem man ansonsten immer lieb und freundlich behandelt wird... 90 % Deiner Posts sind echt klasse und dann kommt so etwas...

egal... careertrotter sagte, dass man nach 12 monaten den job wechseln kann, damit man mehr verdient. Das klingt nach etwas, mit dem man sich in D den Lebenslaufhals brechen wuerde, wenn man es alle 12 Monate macht...

Lord Werther, lese Dir einfach 'mal die mittlerweile reichlichen Postings von "Amala Wolf" durch ... die legen nämlich den brutalen Schluss nahe, dass eine Selbständigkeit bei ihr sehr, sehr unwahrscheinlich ist.

Im Übrigen ... das mit dem "immer lieb und freundlich behandelt" diskutieren wir nochmal, wenn Du länger in Irland bist.

Naja... aber wenn jemand unsicher ist, soll man dem doch nicht vor den Kopf stossen. Mir ist es lieber, als wenn jemand eine Frage zu viel stellt, als wenn er spaeter im Land ist und voll auf die Schau... faellt.
