Hallo zusammen
Bin ziemlich neu in diesem Forum und habe leider noch kein Wort über die Dublin-Band Kíla gelesen. Gibt es Leute hier, die diese Band ebenso lieben wie ich, oder stehen alle eher auf trad. folkmusic?

Sehr interessant auch das Solo-Projekt des Kílasängers Rónan Ó Snodaig "Tip Toe".

Tonnta Ró
Solo album of Kíla's voice Rónán Ó Snodaigh. One of the most important male voice of the Celtic/Irish music world. If you are looking for an ordinary music please stay away ! This album is most mind provoking album I've ever seen. Based on the traditional Irish mouth music. Instrumentation is great as usual but percussion is amazing. Tastes like African music at first. Perfect alternative for you if you are looking for an extraordinary album. Also a great alternative for me for the long and warm summer days and nights in the Mediterranean - without a delightful company !...



Luna Park
Kíla's Luna Park is a brilliant piece of artwork. Wonderful compositions, vocals and instrumentation. Vocalist Rónán singing in Irish, his voice is blending with music and creating the characteristics of Kíla. Instrumental songs are able to take you to a brilliantly colourful journey to the Irish lands. Is this Celtic rock ? In my opinion; Yes it is. Kíla's music is as sharp as Narsil, as powerful as a Dragon, and as hard as wild waves of sea on the rocks. Sound is wonderful, great work overall - but I especially enjoy the songs like Glanfaidh Mé, Hebden Bridge, Béilin Meala and The Hour Before The Dawn.

Nachdem Du Dich hier ja als Kila-Fan geoutet hast, hats mich war ich doch sehr neugierig auf den Sound. Endlich habe ich nun auch eine CD zuhause "Luna Park".

War echt positiv überrascht - hat wunderschöne Elemente auf der CD (z.T. etwas a la Braveheart) und dann wieder fetzige Musik. Echt eine gute CD!

Danke für den (versteckten) Tipp!

2004:
Band tour in 14 countries on 4 continents. Plankton of Japan release Luna Park and Tonnta Ró, while on tour there they play to 40milion viewers on Japans News 23 programme. Among the many festivals were 4 Womads, The Forum Barcelona and Szeigit in BudaPeist. In Taiwan a record company called Jingo releases Luna Park making it 6 territories where Kíla have secured licensing deals. Luna Park goes gold in Ireland while Tog é achieves Platinum status. Rónán releases solo CD Tonnta Ró and publishes two books of lyrics in Irish and English, Luascadán and Songs. Rónán, Brian, Rossa and Lance become fathers and Ferdia, Sophie, Tarach and Arianne form Kíla -The Next Generation. Speakers Square is launched in Dublin by Rossa. Kíla Live in Dublin is released on the 22nd of Oct and band do tour of Ireland to wind up an extremely successful year.

Ronan O' Snodaigh - "The Playdays" - OUT: APR 1st 2005


BACKGROUND:

This is the third solo album from Kíla frontman Rónán Ó Snodaigh in four years. It is a continuation of Tip Toe with English songs to guitar accompaniment, and as with Tonnta Ró and Tip Toe, Rónán has been joined by some very distinguished guest musicians including the ever powerful Ritchie Buckley on Saxaphone, Martin Brundsen on Double Bass, Bobby Lee guitar and Claire Bonass vocals.

As the title suggests, The Playdays; is a lighthearted lyrical collection of songs. The last track Embrace the Day is a tribute to Rónán's friend the great Mic Christopher, and sees Rónán put the WH Auden poem Funeral Blues to music and includes a previously unheard recording of Mic Christopher with Enda Byrnes.
